2012 NATIONAL TOUR

Theatre Lovett

THE HOUSE THAT JACK FILLED

By Finegan Kruckemeyer

The House that Jack Filled was commissioned by Theatre Lovett in partnership with Strollers Touring Network. It premiered at the Dublin Theatre Festival in 2012 before a national Strollers Network tour.

Based in a hotel with 13 rooms (all of them sunny) for 13 people (all of them different) – Theatre Lovett reassembled much of the same artistic team that produced Kruckemeyer's “The Girl Who Forgot to Sing Badly” – but this time under the direction of Muireann Ahern, who brought the irrepressible Louis Lovett back to centre-stage as the well-meaning but hapless Jack McNally.

Jack introduced himself to the audience, before assuming the guises of his hotel’s various guests including: old Mrs Chelsea, Norma and Dorma the Italian twins, Mr Truro who plays the spoons, Lionel O’Brien who talks about trains and Melanie Woodcott who dreams of the sea. When his ruthless developer brother and nemesis, Jake thwarted his hotels success, McNally had no choice but to breathe life, love and laughter into his business.

“Script, set and performance are perfectly fused… with true comic spirit, Theatre Lovett defies all age groupings to appeal to everybody.”
The Irish Independent

“This show  has mass appeal... certain to charm adult and child alike... This play is as heartwarming as it is rib-tickling – a delight.”

"The House that Jack Filled is laugh out loud funny and entertaining, due in the main to Lovett’s animation of Kruckemeyer’s wacky script, as directed by Ahern.”
Irish Theatre Magazine

“Lovett is a master shapeshifter – the smallest change in posture and he becomes someone else… fun family theatre show.”
Irish Theatre Magazine
